Corey Eckstein

Prior to joining OBJ, Corey helped build the Abbotsford Cardinals Baseball Program of the BC Premier Baseball league.

Prior to joining OBJ, Corey helped build the Abbotsford Cardinals Baseball Program of the BC Premier Baseball league.

At the same time he was involved at the grassroots level with his Sandlot Baseball Program, training players of all ages and growing the game of baseball in his province. Over the course of his 19-year tenure, he grew the Yale Secondary Sport Baseball Academy from conception to completion while also helping grow a local collegiate team at the University of the Fraser Valley. During his time with the Cardinals, they took home the League Championship in 2008, 2009, 2016 and the Provincial Championship in 2016 and 2018. In his first year with the University Program, they also took home the CCBC Championship Trophy. In his first year managing at OBJ, his 17U team took home the CPBL Championship in 2023 and lost in the semi-finals in 2024. His dedication to coaching and professionalism has taken him all over the world including spending 4.5 years with the Canadian Junior National Team which included being a part of two Silver Medal wins at the World Qualifier in Cartagena, Columbia (2011) and Seoul, South Korea (2012). They did not finish at the podium in Taiwan (2013). In addition, Corey has served as an Assistant Coach at numerous showcase events across Canada and the United States, representing his provinces at national events numerous times. Eckstein is one of a select few that has attended every Canada Futures (T12) Tournament since it started 10years ago. He was the 3B coach and Bench Coach for two years at the New Balance International Series which was held in Houston and Boston, and has been an assistant coach for the Canadian Premier Prospect team that attends Jupiter each year. In his first two years of scouting with the Kansas City Royals, he was fortunate enough to receive both an American League Championship & World Series Ring for his part-time efforts with the club. 

Corey has been named to the Top 100 Most Influential Canadians in Baseball List in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Max Ishikawa

Max Ishikawa enters his second year with the Cardinals. 

Max Ishikawa enters his second year with the Cardinals. 

In his time with the Cardinals, Max was part of the Premier staff that finished 42-16 overall in 2025. Prior to the Cardinals, Max served as Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach for Far Northeast Warriors, a 5A high school program in Denver, CO from 2018-2024. During his time in Denver, Max led the Warriors to an overall record of 59-26, reaching the 5A State Playoffs three straight seasons and winning the Denver Public Schools City League in 2023. Max was also named DPS Coach of the Year in 2022. Max originates from Chicago, IL where he played collegiate baseball at North Central College (NCAA D3). He also spent time coaching at Harper College (NJCAA), as well as Chicago White Sox Elite from 2015-2019. In addition to serving as an assistant coach, Max also serves the Cardinals as Director of Baseball Operations, Recruiting Coordinator, Social Media Manager and Premier Cardinals Assistant Coach

Aiden Cutrell (Pitching)

Aiden Cutrell enters his 5th year coaching for the Abbotsford Cardinals, serving as the Bantam Pitching Coach for the last three years and now as the Jr Pitching coach. 

Aiden Cutrell enters his 5th year coaching for the Abbotsford Cardinals, serving as the Bantam Pitching Coach for the last three years and now as the Jr Pitching coach. 

Aiden played for the Cardinals for 4 years from 2018-2021. After graduating, Aiden attended Douglas College where he played baseball for two years. Aiden is currently working on his kinesiology degree at UFV. In addition to coaching for the Cardinals, Aiden is also a personal trainer and coaches private lessons and camps at Hit House in Abbotsford.

Coach Josh Berenbaum is Abbotsford Cardinals new Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Coach Josh Berenbaum is Abbotsford Cardinals new Strength and Conditioning Coach.

A current pitcher for the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as assistant coach at University of Fraser Valley (CCBC), Josh is excited to join the Cardinal coaching staff. A graduate of UFV, Josh was a decorated member of the Cascades program as a player, winning CCBC Pitcher of the Year in 2024, amongst other awards.

With a proven track record of leadership, player development, and competitive success, Josh brings both experience and energy to the program as it looks toward the next chapter.
