2025 Junior Coaching Staff

Taylor Bratton enters his 7th season with the Abbotsford Cardinals, 2nd as the Junior Head Coach. Born and raised in Ontario, Taylor played collegiate baseball at University of West Alabama (NCAA D2) from 2009-2014. After his time at UWA, Taylor played one year of professional baseball for the Winnipeg Goldeyes (Independent Ball). Taylor then moved on to coach at Georgia Southwestern State University (NCAA D2) & University of Alabama-Huntsville (NCAA D2) as the pitching coach in 2016 & 2017. Taylor returned to Canada in 2018 to be the 16U Head Coach for the Ontario Blue Jays. Taylor then moved to Abbotsford in 2018, and has served in the Cardinals organization since then. In his time with the Cardinals, Taylor has helped 50+ players move onto the collegiate level since 2019.

Joel Van Ea enters his 5th year coaching for the Abbotsford Cardinals, serving as an assistant coach on the Junior staff. Joel, born and raised in Abbotsford, participated in Yale Baseball Academy & played for the Cardinals from 2011-2014. After graduating, Joel attended Mount Royal University in Alberta, and received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. In addition to his service with the Cardinals, Joel works as a Fish Culturist at the Chehalis River Hatchery. Joel is excited to continue implementing core values and principles to the Cardinals organization through baseball.

Surya Viswanathan enters his first year coaching for the Abbotsford Cardinals, serving as an assistant coach on the Junior staff. Surya played for the Delta Blue Jays & North Shore Twins from 2012-2014. After graduating, Surya attended Douglas College where he played baseball for four years. In addition to his coaching experience with the Cardinals, Surya has coached for Burnaby Bulldogs (2022 Provincial Champs) and Douglas College from 2022-23 as Head Coach. Coach Surya is excited for the 2025 Abbotsford Cardinals Junior season!
